# AnambraDecides2021: Soludo defeats Peter Obi in his local government
The candidate for governor of the All Progressives Grande Alliance (APGA), Professor Charles Soludo won in the constituency of a prominent leader of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Peter Obi.
Although Naija News reports that Obi, a former governor of the state is not on the ballots as a candidate, political observers were eager to see the outcome of the election of Governor of Anambra from his local government.
According to the results released by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), APGA’s Soludo won in the local government area of Njikoka.
He won 8,803 votes to defeat the PDP candidate (3,409), the APC candidate (3,216) and other candidates in Saturday’s election.
During this time, Soludo was declared winner in 17 of the 21 local election results declared so far in Anambra state.
The former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) along with development, is getting closer to being officially declared the winner of the Anambra Governorate election in 2021.
Soludo has steadily extended its lead over the other candidates as the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) continues to announce the results of Saturday’s governor election in Anambra.
So far, the APGA candidate has won in Dunukofia, Awka North, Awka South, Oyi, Ayamelum, Anaocha, Anambra East, Idemili North, Idemili South, Onitsha North, Onitsha South, Njikoka, Nnewi South, Anambra West , Aguata, Orumba Sud and the Ekwusigo local government areas.
