FIVE families with 17 people were displaced by a fire that struck Purok 5A in Recodo Village, Zamboanga City late Tuesday January 18, 2022.

City Social Welfare and Development Officer (CSWDO) Socorro Rojas said the displaced families are all tenants, whose rented structures have been razed.

Rojas said the affected families are temporarily housed at the Recodo senior center.

CSWDO staff immediately went to the site for an initial assessment and distributed hot meals, family food parcels and other hygiene kits to displaced families.

The CSWDO will conduct a more in-depth assessment to determine what other interventions and assistance the families need, according to Rojas. (SunStar Zamboanga)
